Trevor Noah Takes a Jab at Nicki Minaj During Grammy Ceremony Over Her Affection for Donald Trump
Trevor Noah, known for typically steering clear of political commentary while hosting the Grammys, took a bold step during his lively opening monologue by making light of Nicki Minaj's recent admiration for Donald Trump.
After sharing laughs with numerous stars in attendance, Noah pointed out that the famous rapper was notably absent from the night’s festivities. "Nicki Minaj is not here tonight," he quipped. "She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump, discussing some very pressing matters."
Imitating Trump and referencing Cardi B’s hit song "WAP," he humorously added, "‘Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s talking about it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s really me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Just take a look, baby.'"
Minaj has stirred quite a bit of discussion among her followers due to her overt support for both Trump and the MAGA movement, which has sparked passionate debates online.
Last year, Noah’s Grammy monologue was more subdued, likely influenced by the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles; however, he still managed to critique the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.
The ceremony held on February 1 marks Trevor Noah’s sixth time hosting the Grammy Awards, and as revealed by the show’s executive producer Ben Winston, this will be his final appearance in that role. "I’m absolutely delighted to have Trevor Noah back for his sixth and sadly last hosting gig at the Grammys," Winston stated earlier in January. "He has been an incredible host—intelligent, hilarious, and a genuine fan of the artists and the music. His influence on the show has been nothing short of spectacular, and we eagerly anticipate sharing this final experience with him."
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Kendrick Lamar leading the nominations for the evening with an impressive nine nods, including record of the year, song of the year, and album of the year.
