The Miniature Wife: Trailer (2026)

Bold statement: a groundbreaking rom-com trailer drops a twist-y premise that could reshape how we think about relationships in the age of tech glitches. But here’s where it gets controversial: does a single sci-tech accident really upend love in a way that’s truly novel, or is it just another high-concept remix of familiar power dynamics? If you’re curious to see how the idea lands, read on.

The Miniature Wife trailer introduces a high-concept dramedy starring Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen. Banks, known for The Hunger Games and The Better Sister, teams up with Macfadyen (Succession, Deadpool & Wolverine) for a project coming to Stan in April.

Adapted from Manuel Gonzales’s short story, the ten-episode series centers on a relationship crisis sparked by a technological incident. The premise explores the subtle and overt imbalances of power within marriage when technology disrupts the intimate balance between partners.

The ensemble cast spans a diverse lineup, including Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, Crazy Rich Asians), Zoe Lister-Jones (New Girl, Life in Pieces, Friends with Better Lives), Sofia Rosinsky (Paper Girls, Death and Other Details), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale, Presumed Innocent), Sian Clifford (Fleabag, The Ballad of Wallis Island), Aasif Mandvi (Evil, The Daily Show), Rong Fu (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Hello Again), and Tricia Black (Small Achievable Goals, Pretty Hard Cases).

Produced as an Original Series from Media Res (the team behind The Morning Show and Pachinko), The Miniature Wife is created, written, and executive-produced by showrunners Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (Boardwalk Empire, Goliath). Greg Mottola (Superbad, The Daytrippers) directs and also serves as an executive producer, with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer producing for Media Res, alongside Michael Aguilar (I’m Dying Up Here, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels) and Suzanne Heathcote (The Crowded Room, Killing Eve). Banks and Macfadyen herself also contribute as executive producers. Sony Pictures Television handles international distribution.

All episodes drop Friday, April 10, with the entire season available at once on Stan.

Question for readers: If a small technological twist can tilt the scales of a relationship so dramatically, does it reveal more about love’s fragility or about our dependence on control? Share your take in the comments: would you watch, or does the premise feel too anxious for comfort?
